🌱 How Hello BB Dev Came To Be
That's where I took inspiration for my name. Hello BB Dev.
My partner, Ursaril, calls me "BB." For the longest time, he's been encouraging me to learn programming. Whenever I felt lost or overwhelmed about my future, he would tell me:
"Turuan kita magprogramming para hindi ka na umiyak. At magkaka life skill ka pa!"
(I'll teach you programming so you won't cry. And you'll gain a life skill too!)
At that time, I was just a college student struggling — with academics, with direction, with everything feeling uncertain. To him, programming was something practical. As it was his livelihood for more than a decade. He himself taught himself how to develop games using Unity and he takes pride in that. Hence why he was so adamant on teaching me when I showed the slightest interest.
Funny enough... I did end up learning game development.
Just not from him ~
Finding Game Development on My Own
It started with the most stressful periods of my life, Thesis season and the pressure of graduation.
I found myself watching game development videos as a form of escape.
Somewhere along the way, it stopped being just a distraction.
It became something I genuinely wanted to try.
Out of all the tools out there, I ended up choosing Godot. What helped me start was an easy to follow tutorial by Coco Code. After scanning numerous tutorials and videos and guides. It was Coco Code's video that made everything feel approachable. Like maybe this wasn't as impossible as I thought.
From there, I slowly began exploring the world of game development.
For context, my background isn't related to tech at all. So stepping into this space felt... intimidating. But also exciting in a way I hadn't felt in a long time.

Why I Started Streaming My Dev Journey
I first pushed for Twitch affiliate just to get the ball rolling.
Now, I stream my learning process weekly on Twitch.
Not because I'm an expert but because I need accountability.
I realized that if I kept waiting to "find time" to work on game dev, it would never happen. So instead, I made time for it. I gave it a fixed space in my week. Thursday nights became Hello BB Dev time.
Of course, streaming comes with its own challenges. I can be a bit of a yapper sometimes.
So I thought... why not turn that into something productive too?
Why This Blog Exists
That's how this blog came to be.
If I'm already talking through my thoughts while streaming, I might as well write them down too. Turn them into something more intentional. Something people can read, relate to, or maybe even learn from.
This blog is part of that effort ~ to make each of my platforms feel meaningful, not just active.
